Architecture 2021
- Published in Pagine
One of the most interesting and experimental sections of the Lucca Biennale is certainly dedicated to Architecture. In the last 15 years or so a real sub-discipline has developed, specialized in the construction of buildings with materials such as paper and cardboard, especially thanks to great visionaries such as the Japanese Shigeru Ban.
Lucca Biennale seeks to explore this area by challenging artists and architects to design projects that seem almost impossible to achieve but instead demonstrate the versatility of paper as a material. Not only architectural challenges and visionary designs: paper structures can offer new solutions to social problems such as the lack of housing for the homeless, refugees or displaced persons.
For the ninth edition of Lucca Biennale, a collaboration with the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning of Tongji University led to the realization of an architecture by students during the days of the event.
During the 2021 edition is planned the construction of even more spectacular paper structures, curious to find out what it is? Details will be revealed soon!
The 10th Edition of Lucca Biennale will be held for the first time in an odd year from August 1 to September 26, 2021.
