Cardboard in the balance between sculpture and architecture
Among the hundreds of proposals that arrive at the Lucca Biennale Cartasia, to create the large cardboard sculptures, many are the work of artists with training in architecture. The different approach of the architects manifests itself from the conception, from the choice of dimensions, to the characteristics of the work, up to the relationship with the urban space and with people who are not just spectators, but can become active users.
LuBiCa in collaboration with the Order of Architects P.P.C. of Lucca proposes an exhibition of some models that have contributed to the editions of the Lucca Biennale, with a particular focus on architecture.
At the event will be exhibited 12 models: "Lantern" by Marco de Piaggi, "Beauty of danger" by Lenka Konopasek, "Hola/Hello" by Randy Dixon, "The Monad" by Carlo Catalbiano, "It will be allright" by Jean Francois Roy, "Nearly one" by Josef Baier, " The clouds of illusion" and "The sights and sounds of the cosmo" by Ankon Mitra, "For life" by Luca Gnizio, "Paperman" by James lake, "Hoodie" by Michael Stutz and "Liminal Space" by Manuela Granziol.
Lucca Biennale Cartasia, born to spread the knowledge of paper art through artistic expressions, today consists of nine sections including the Architecture section dedicated to the deepening of the use of paper and cardboard in buildings, not only as a material for small objects or support for drawings, but real building material.
