For its tenth anniversary Lucca Biennale Cartasia offers workshops, workshops for adults, held by indoor and outdoor artists of paper art guests in Lucca Biennale Cartasia. These meetings are designed, in particular, for those who have already approached paper art and want to learn professional techniques and approaches

The proposed workshops are 3:

  • Sartoria and Performance

    logo-chi Who? What? How?

    Davide Francesca:

The workshop will address the creation of a performative action that dialogues with matter "paper". A path of experimentation on the material and the body that wants to provide the possibility to create and refine their expressive tools and open new artistic investigations personal and collective. The participants will be guided in a path aimed at focusing the theme of their research and develop it in a real performative action. The proposal provides both a physical training path, both a laboratory moment dedicated to the possible use of the material "Paper". The workshop is open to visual artists, actors, dancers both from the professional world and that of amateurs.

  • Washi Technique

    logo-chi Who? What? How?

    Meyko Yokoyama:

During the workshop paintings are made using only fragments of colored Japanese paper. Tearing the paper into small pieces and gluing them together forms a shape that is transformed with the magic of light. The workshop will be a unique and original opportunity to learn about the world of Japanese paper, whose thin thickness allows you to realize even the smallest and delicate details of the design (the eyes, the lines of the face, the contours, the shades, the volume of the hair, the three-dimensionality of the flowers, the transparency of the water, etc.). By superimposing two different images and arranging LED light strips inside the frame, the image is transformed thanks to the transparency of the Japanese paper and the play of light, making appear figures that were previously invisible. During the workshop will be illustrated the different types of Japanese paper used.

  • Worrying Objects

    logo-chi Who? What? How?

    Jonathan Bocca:

Architect Richard Neutra said that the only right way to design was to understand people's dreams. This was the only way to create a space that would satisfy people in every aspect, both inner and outer. Neutra used to collect notebooks where through psychoanalysis he analyzed the dreams made by his customers. The design, for him, had to take place in the same way as the psychologist understood his patient. To know their fears and to understand their desires. In the workshop a similar experience is proposed, many times we believe to find answers only through the rationality ignoring that our irrational part, is much more' determining. Completely ignoring what our mind communicates to us and what it wants to say to us. This constant desire to know each other but at the same time to be afraid of sexes. The experience: Dorimire will be the key and dream the medium, you will be asked to realize an object dreamed to each participant. The exercise consists in drawing the first memory that you have in the morning of our dreams, and then identify the element that characterized our dream, and then reproduce it with the Paper. What's with the paper? The paper, since childhood, is the means to express and shape your dreams, there is no more intimate material than this, it accompanies us at all times and it is through this that we will be remembered.
