They've become symbols of the Biennale: the monumental cardboard sculptures, introduced in the first edition, have always represented the potential of paper and the talent of the artists that create them during their month long artistic residency. From the beginning of August, the sculptures will be installed and inaugurated in the squares of the city. Among the artists present there will be James Lake and Dosshaus.

Two locations and over two thousand square metres of exhibitions: the Art Indoor section of the Biennale showcases art work that represents the state of Contemporary Paper Art, including sculpture, paintings, installations and video art. Among the artists present there will be Paola Bazz, Adriano Attus and Anne Vilsboell, along with a focus on China (with works by Joe Wong, Rong Ren, and China Academy of Art Shanghai institute of Design).

DESIGN & ARCHITECTURE EXHIBITION
19th August - 27th September
For this edition, the design and architecture section will include functional cardboard structures, created in open air spaces in Lucca, among these there will be a cardboard architecture built in place by the students of architecture of Tongji University from Shanghai.

2 days of conferences and networking opportunities for art enthusiasts and art professionals, focusing on future developments, updates on economical, social and anthropological matters, all within the topic of art and design. (The dates may be subject to slight variation)
The performances include artists that use their voice and body, involving the use of paper to tell stories, emotions, thoughts, ideas on what is most dear to us.
Every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday
Creative and educational events that actively engage the young audience of the Biennale. There will be workshops and art classes for children, along with guided educational tours of the exhibitions.
